Choose one of the following topics. Your essay should have no more than 2500 words. Consult the essay writing guidelines here.
The pages of your essay must be stapled. Do not use plastic folders.
  1. What role, if any, does transcendental idealism play in Kant's arguments in the First and Second Analogies?
  2. `Time cannot be perceived by itself.' What is the role of this assumption in the argument of the First Analogy? Can the argument work without it?
  3. `I must derive the subjective sequence of apprehension from the objective sequence of appearances' (A193/B238). How does Kant do that? Is he successful? What is the significance of this claim?
Final drafts must be submitted to my office by 17:00 on 5 January. Only hard copies will be accepted. Each day of the delay in the submission of final drafts will entail a reduction of five points from the essay grade.
